Black Swan

I went to see Black Swan on Sunday evening after much anticipation from seeing the trailers. I was not prepared for some scenes I must say; but I won't give it away! The film was beautifully choreographed and produced an extremely thought provoking, dark and dangerous story. Natalie Portman was exquisite; she is such an elegant and graceful actress, also very believable and proved to be an enigma to watch. The beautiful Mila Kunis also played her part of the 'bad girl' exceedingly well. Highly recommended. Watch the official trailer here

A Jolly Good Week!!

So far so good as far as my week has been! On Monday I found out that I had been chosen for the role of Stylist for 3rd Floor magazine!! I was so thrilled as I was up against some extremely talented people and was not expecting it...but I am very honoured and extremely excited that I have been given this opportunity! Keep an eye out for posts of the new Facebook/ Twitter pages, blog and website!!Let the hard work begin...
Today I also FINALLY submitted my 8000 word dissertation which is a huge relief that it is well and truly out of my life, and is an enormous weight off my shoulders! My research question which begins the paper was:
Throughout history the concept of what is considered to be the ideal body image has evolved considerably and recurred over time. How have these ideas developed and to what extent have the ideals of each era been reinforced by the media? Is there currently an opportunity for society’s deep-rooted obsession with body image to change?
Further to this...I am off to London tomorrow and Friday to do a spot of work experience assisting on a photo shoot for Conde Nast Brides magazine which I'm very excited for! I have assisted Polly, the lifestyle editor a couple of times before and always thoroughly enjoy my time on her shoots; she always produces the most beautiful editorials! Hopefully I should be able to get a few snaps of the day's progress, but if not I shall post the issue's story once it is out!

Content is just one word which springs to mind to describe my mood right now...

"Que Sera, Sera"

I had an epiphany today... Que Sera Sera...Whatever will be will be. It made me relax and stop stressing about things.

That is all.

Emmanuelle & Carine

So after much talk of it all, Emmanuelle Alt has taken over the reigns of Editor In Chief at Vogue Paris, from the
lovely Carine Roitfeld. I must say I am a big fan of both ladies' elegant, effortless style; I think Roitfeld has done an incredible job under her position on the magazine for the last 10 years, but I will be excited to see what Alt will contribute- as well as waiting in anticipation for Carine's next steps into the fashion world. One of my favourite editorials by Carine is this beautiful, enigmatic story featuring Natalia Vodianova:

Photograher: Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott
Stlist: Carine Roitfeld

And this whimsical, black and white story is one of my favourites of Alts featuring Sasha Pivovarova; one of my favourite models:

Hello Toppers my dear old friend

I went shopping for the first time in a very long time at the weekend as a well deserved treat for all the uni work! Oh how I had missed the one and only Topshop...it really shouldn't be allowed how long we had been apart from one another!! It is not good for my health...although it certainly is not good for my bank balance...hmm..moving on! I am really loving shirts and blouses at the moment- and am so pleased the pussybow blouse has reappeared as I'm a big fan of this style, I think it looks so stylish and elegant- and very versatile: day-wear/ evening-wear...teamed with jeans/ high waisted shorts- perfect! I also have been a long standing and will continue to be a fan of the high waist...shorts, jeans, skirts- I just love that look! Again- very versatile. Patterns are also on my agenda, I couldn't get enough of them while I was shopping...stripes, polka dots, feather motifs, not forgetting florals. Long term favourites remain with chunky knit jumpers, playsuits and jumpsuits. Accessories wise I adore the semi precious gemstone jewellery that is so rife in the shops right now! I purchased these little beauties and have a few more waiting to reach me in the post...nothing beats new clothes!!
